Interview with Irene of Irene's Designs

Interview with Irene

Hello, my name is Irene Briggs, originally from Iowa. I entered Nurses Training after graduating from High School - received my RN and have worked in the Medical field for many years - over 50.

I have always enjoyed sewing and made most of my clothes and also clothes for our daughter. As many of you know, I have been digitizing almost since the software first came out but only recently started digitizing designs to sell. I bought one of the first embroidery machines for the home and never stopped enjoying digitizing and sewing for our grandchildren and friends.

My husband and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniv. a few years ago and we praise the Lord for each day we have to enjoy each other's company-he is my best friend. We have two married children and 5 grandchildren. Our oldest grandson will enter Law school later this year-how time flies.

As I stated earlier, I worked over 50 years as an RN - which is my first love as far as the work field is concerned. The last 30+ years was in the Occupational Health Field and what a joy that was. I retired from ARCO(an Oil Company) and later from IBM - where I worked as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse. Sometimes, I still miss that type of work but I am getting too old to think of working in that field anymore.

My most favorite designs are the ones related to the Bible and my next are the Redwork designs. I enjoy drawing so I have not had a hard time finding artwork, plus where we live there are lots of artists - so this has been a blessing when it comes to artwork for digitizing.

I praise the Lord for all my embroidery friends and I hope to continue learning and producing quality designs. I use Artista and EM2 software the most but also PE Design L&E- manual punching the designs is so much easier and prettier, but again - that is just my opinion. I have always enjoyed learning so when I was in my 50's - I returned to college and received my BA in Business Administration. I already had my RN so I didn't see a need to acquire my degree in that field. I wish I would have been a few years younger - I would have gone to Medical School.

I think that is about it for me, I pray you enjoy life as much as we do. I truly enjoy helping people.
